A science journalism platform spotlighting research from Historically Black Colleges and Universities — home of the HBSciU Science Writing Fellowship, launched with an $11,000 NASW Peggy Girshman Idea Grant. Every fellow was published; several went on to win NASW grants of their own.
Pioneered the children's STEM-themed subscription box in 2016 — reaching its first 100 subscribers faster than 91% of sellers on its launch platform. Also built a curation engine and community helping parents, educators, and librarians make STEM learning accessible through storytelling.

As senior acquisitions editor at
The MIT Press (2016–2023), I built the
physical sciences, engineering, and mathematics list — signing and shepherding 90+ titles by some of the leading
researchers and reporters in STEM. I also helped launch children's publishing with MIT Kids Press and MITeen Press,
which sprang from a partnership between Candlewick Press and The MIT Press.
Nine years as associate editor and books column editor at Physics Today, the flagship magazine of the American Institute of Physics — 140+ bylined articles on STEM education, industrial R&D, and international science. Launched Bookends, the magazine's first books blog, home to Q&As with prominent physicists including future Nobel laureate Anton Zeilinger. Selected features:

Before editing science, I did science — seven years in engineering, biochemistry, and biophysics labs, from inventing a novel reaction process for silica-particle synthesis, to fabricating nanofiltration membranes for water purification and biosensor applications, to deducing critical thermodynamic values of actin polymerization under novel experimental conditions.
